A brief history
It's a part of me forever.
The Art of Darkness is a project that began in late 2024, that started as a simple lore expansion for my single Dandy's World OC at the time: Gala. She had gone from a vague idea in my head for the game to a more developed concept over time, with more and more characters being added and more of the story being developed.
I was really passionate about it! And I made a lot of things just for myself, and gained a sizeable fandom along the way, which is a bit baffling. Over that past year or two, I've expanded a lot, and made a lot of things, and it all got kind of convoluded in my mind and there really was never good place to share it all with the audience I had.
And then I scrapped it all! Well, kind of? I decided to rewrite just about everything, specifically to completely separate it from it's original source so I could have full creative freedom (among other reasons).I love this project, I really do, and I'm happy I have just about everything figured out. I'm just waiting for you to figure it out too.
What materials do you use?
- I use Blender for 3D modeling and animation. I use Unity to upload my VRChat avatars.
- I draw with an iPad on ibispaint X, occasionally Procreate.
- I use VS Code for frontend development, and I use Neocities for hosting.
- I use FireAlpaca for image editing, mostly.
- I use Capcut and Audacity for video/audio editing.
- I do everything on an ASUS TUF Gaming A16 laptop.
What inspired TAD?
- A lot of things. Dandy's World (obviously), My Little Pony, Lalaloopsy, Bendy and the Ink Machine, and an old personal project of mine mostly. I get a lot of ideas from a lot of different places, but most of it comes from my own experiences and imagination.
How "Done" are you with this project?
- Uh, I'm not sure. I still have to clean up just a bit, and there's that game I want to make, but that's a huge project. If you're talking about some kind of timeline, that doesn't really exist. There's no real way to tell you when I'll be "finished" with TAD.
Is there anything you can't tell us?
- Well, obviously. I think part of the fun is figuring things out for yourself! I love seeing people exchange theories and opinions and the like. It's important to me that people can discover things on their own. If you're talking about anything I can't feature here, I mean, there's probably a lot of it I haven't added anywhere in this site yet, so your recollection may have missing pieces, if you don't like to have fun and infer things.
